Event : HOG Malaysia Chapter “Ang Pow” Ride
Date : 7th January 2010
Venue : Klang Executive Club, Klang. (KEC)
Purpose : Ride for Charity

Sunday 7th January turned out to be a bright and beautiful typical Malaysian day. Our riders, totalling 34 bikes and about 20 non riders turned up at the appointed time at the Dealership and the push-off was also smooth and on time.

A short ride later, the bikers arrived at the venue where the children from 3 homes were waiting to greet them. After a quick tour of the bikes, the bikers and the children proceeded into the Club premises and on to the Garden Terrace Hall where the festivities were to be held.

The Garden Terrace was gaily decorated with balloons and there was also a big HOG backdrop, courtesy of the Klang Executive Club. The children were all given paper hats, mandarin oranges and sweets upon entering the room.

Children games were played and were enjoyed by all the children judging from the squeals and laughter emanating from them. The KEC event staff interacted very well with the children and prizes were up for grabs courtesy of KEC.

The games were interrupted by lunch consisting of such delights for the kids. They had crisps and coleslaw for appetisers. Main courses were Thai style fried rice (not too spicy), mee mamak, mini pizzas, chicken pieces, sausages. Desserts was kuih Melayu, fresh fruits and of course……ice cream.

The games continued after lunch and then the moment the children were waiting for ….Ang Pow receiving time. It was a happy and joyous occasion had by all, riders and children. Unfortunately, a bike ride was not feasible due to safety factors and the party broke up after a grand photo session, the kids boarded the coaches for home.

A quick passing around of the hat netted a total of RM3,070.00. Rm2,500.00 went to pay for the lunch and the balance of RM570.00 was handed over to Mr. Chris Chin, General Manager of Harley Davidson, Kuala Lumpur, to add to HDKL Children’s Fund.

Apart from the Ang Pows from the Club, a few members also handed out Ang Pows on their own accord. Our thanks to our Mr Peter Lee, Mr and Mrs Barry Yap, Mr Larry Yap (Club’s behalf) and Ms Song. So all the children went home with 4 packets of Ang Pow each.

We had 11 packets of Ang Pows left over totalling RM55.00 and this too was handed over to Chris for HDKL’s Children’s Fund.

HOG Malaysia Chapter has again showed the hearts and generosity of our bikers. Children will always have a soft spot in our hearts.
